Chemistry Lab
The IFQAL Chemistry Laboratory currently employs a laboratory manager, a principal chemist, two senior chemists, a laboratory materials supervisor, a part-time office assistant, and 3-7 interns. At this time the laboratory is capable of measuring a wide range of pesticide residues in agricultural commodities. In addition, the staff is trained to analyze FIFRA law enforcement samples for the ISDA. All analyses are conducted under the provisions of Good Laboratory Practices (40 CFR Part 160).
Instrumentation includes two GC/MSs, an LC/MS, and an LC/MS/MS. The legislature has made it a priority to regularly update our instrumentation to remain current with the industry.
The laboratory is also a member of the Federal Emergency Regulatory Network (FERN), which makes us an active partner in the Homeland Security effort.
